Federal Minister Philipp Rösler visits technology pioneer ebm-papst

Philipp Rösler, Germany's Federal Minister for Economics and Technology, visited the world market leader for fans and motors, ebm-papst, at its location in Mulfingen-Hollenbach. There he viewed the company's latest energy-efficient products and innovative production methods and met the ebm-papst energy scouts, trainees involved in an ongoing search for ways to save energy.

In addition to the company tour, the minister held talks with Gerhard Sturm, founder and Chairman of the Advisory Board of the ebm-papst Group, and members of Rainer Hundsdörfer's management team. The talks focussed on the need to reduce bureaucracy, particularly for certifications and standardisations, and the need for free trade agreements as well as ebm-papst's "GreenTech" innovation and energy efficiency strategy.

"The cleanest way to save energy is not to use it. With our fans and motors, we are the leaders in this field and have successfully made GreenTech and energy efficiency part of our corporate culture," said Rainer Hundsdörfer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the ebm-papst Group.

"With your engineering artistry, you help master the enormous challenges of environmental protection at their origin," said Philipp Rösler, who became acquainted with ebm-papst at the "Congress of Global Market Leaders" in Schwäbisch Hall. He explained his visit by saying that he wanted to signal the importance of outstanding companies like ebm-papst and make them better-known.

Rösler praised the family-owned company's special corporate culture with its strong sense of loyalty towards its employees and its extraordinary innovativeness.

The vice-chancellor concluded his visit with a discussion with trainees, employees and managers. The main topics of interest were how the state spends tax money, dealing with the shortage of skilled workers, efforts to reduce red tape, and the future of Germany and Europe.
