ebm-papst wins German Sustainability Award

ebm-papst has won the German Sustainability Award in the category “Germany’s most sustainable companies”. The world market leader in fans and motors had been shortlisted for this category as well as for the special award “Resource efficiency”.

Starting in 2008, the Stiftung Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis, the foundation behind this prestigious annual award, presents it to companies where economic success is found to go excellently well with social responsibility and eco-friendliness. Having been honoured with this award as most sustainable company in Germany just highlights the fact that the fan specialist has yet again managed to maintain its pioneering role in the field of energy and resource efficiency.

The decisive factor for the jury was the convincing corporate GreenTech strategy which ebm-papst implemented to see sustainability as top priority in their products, their production and in processes and which is also successfully used as competitive advantage to help maintain and boost the position as market leader. Examples the jury thought were part of this outstanding performance are the energy-saving EC fans, energy-efficiency projects in energy management and modern technologies used in building services engineering, the Plus-Energy building of the Hollenbach plant or the trainee project “Energy scouts” for analysing energy saving potentials throughout the company.

On top of this, the company managed to achieve a particularly high level of resource efficiency by making use of renewable raw materials for their products and by also making sure their products are highly innovative and guarantee better efficiency with every new development stage.

Rainer Hundsdörfer, Chairman of the ebm-papst group Board of Directors, is thrilled: “We are enormously happy receiving this internationally prestigious award. A look at the shortlisted companies shows the demands on excellence required by the candidates, and it is simply great to get this acknowledgement that we meet these tough specifications! We shall continue our way of doing business with sustainability as top priority with our holistic and comprehensive GreenTech strategy– throughout the world.”

The German Sustainability Award was presented on 22 November 2013 in Düsseldorf as part of the German Sustainability Day, the leading economic congress on sustainability. In 2013, wards were presented in the following categories: Companies, Brands, Products/Services, Strategies for the Future, Special award “Resource efficiency”, “Blauer Engel” (blue-angel eco-label) award.
