Sponsored laboratories in educational institutions

BCA Academy & Singapore Polytechnic

In ebm‑papst SEA, we always have a vision of inspiring the next generation of student innovators and industry leaders. With this vision, we fully sponsored and set up a lab at Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Academy in 2018. A similar lab was set up in Singapore Polytechnic in 2019.

BCA Academy
As a government-affiliated education and research arm of BCA Singapore, BCA Academy facilitates education, training and research within the building and construction industry in Singapore.

In line with BCA Academy’s training pedagogy of combining on-campus learning and experiential learning of the training facilities, ebm‑papst lab was designed to help students develop a stronger understanding of high-efficiency cooling solutions. A range of interactive displays demonstrates the capacity of electronically commutated (EC) motors comparative to traditional AC motors for increased air output, reduced energy consumption and quieter motor noise. Information on air movement, such as the difference between centrifugal and axial fans, is also included.

The lab at the BCA academy was first opened to students and visitors of the academy in early 2018 and is used as a demonstrative part of the curriculum since then.

On 18th April 2019, ebm‑papst SEA hosted an event which pioneers the education of EC technology. Our group of esteemed guests include distinguished representatives from industrial partners and educators from tertiary education organisations.

The event commenced with a welcome speech by our Managing Director, Mr. Coleman Lim. This was swiftly followed by a presentation on EC fan technology by our Product Strategy Manager, Mr. Rickie Chua.

After the presentation, we gave our guests a hands-on experience by taking them around our showroom and working lab. Mr. Rickie Chua, Mr. Trevis Tan (Application Manager) and Mr. Hiew Chung Ka (Field Application Engineer) led the tour. The tour features close-ups of displays in the showroom (e.g. Fan Coil Units, Air Handling Units, RadiCal Simulation) and demo units (e.g. Fan Grid with 4 RadiPac EC Fans and HMI Touchpad).

The event was concluded with a visit to the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Academy, where the attendees toured the ebm‑papst lab.
