Noise emissions in ventilation and air-conditioning systems are not always so easily noticeable, but they have equally large effects. Understanding noises, their causes and effects is therefore extremely important for improving the acoustics of ventilation systems.

Fans are often the source of such noise emissions in ACMV systems. Therefore, ebm‑papst conducted research on noise generated by fans and how they can be reduced. The results of our research have been summarised and collated in a whitepaper, which you can access by filling out the form below.

In this whitepaper, the following topics will also be addressed:

  • Why is noise an important factor
    • The different perceptions of noises
    • Noise is the sum of the individual parts
    • The noise spectrum of a fan
  • Aeroacoustics: Identifying and resolving causes of noise emissions
    • A visit to the measurement laboratory
    • What the data tell us
    • Involving experts at the planning stage

We will also briefly discuss the ebm‑papst solutions that can help to address noise concerns in ACMV systems.
