The aim is to ensure that all ebm-papst product designations around the world follow a standardized and consistent system, no matter where a product is purchased, developed, manufactured or sold.
Leverage synergies
Today there are more than 30 different material number systems within the ebm-papst Group. Often up to 5 different system types have to be managed at a single site because the production process has been relocated. This is extremely complex and, at present, means that it is very difficult to leverage synergies.
In order to continue to grow in the future, and to meet the demands of its customers, ebm-papst is accelerating the globalization of its production network. Procurement and development centers in Asia and America are increasingly gaining in significance and importance. However, if you are a global player, you must also speak a globally standardized language.
The new and globally standardized material number system makes it much easier to determine exactly where each product is processed and used. This means that resources can be used around the world much more efficiently, and we can pool our procurement potential more effectively. But, above all, it will facilitate global communication and allow information to be exchanged more quickly.
